Heading into this weekend’s ITU World Triathlon Series event on the Gold Coast of Australia, Gwen Jorgensen could be forgiven for feeling quite confident about her chances.
Having last year become the first female to win four consecutive World Triathlon Series events she’s now won seven of the last eight such events, and her domination has seen her set new standards for consistency in the women’s division.
Owing to her god run she’s undefeated in 2015, and at the last event (in Auckland, also in Australia) her run split time was fifty seconds faster than any other female athlete.
With ten WTS career titles to her name Jorgensen will rightly be out to win this event, and in doing so edge closer to the record of Portugal’s Vanessa Fernandes (20 ITU World Cup titles) and Australia’s Emma Carney, (12 world cup wins).
The ITU event will be of a standard format – 1500m swim, 40km bike & 10km run, and is scheduled to start at 11.05AM local time (9:05 AM ET FRI 10 / 04.05AM GMT Apr 11) on Saturday 11/04/15 in Queensland, Australia.
